A long-distance race dedicated to the memory of beloved waterman, coach, and paddler Henry Keawe Ayau.

Race Course

  • The course is 32 miles from Maunalua Bay, around Diamond Head and Kalaeloa, finishing at Nanakuli Beach Park

Fees

  • $550

  • A $50 late fee applies after 11:00 AM, Sep 16, 2023

Divisions

9-Man Crews:

  • KOA

  • Junior

  • OPEN

  • 40’s+

  • 50’s+

  • UNLIMITED (open only)

12-Man Crews:

  • 55’s+

  • 60’s+

Mix Crews: (5 men & 5 women, must have 3W, 3M paddling at all times.)

  • Mix Open

  • Mix 45’s

  • Mix 55’s

Crew Registration

To register your crews for ANY of the long-distance season races across the state, please go to hcrapaddler.com and follow these steps:

  1. Click on RD LD at the top left corner and log in with your credentials as stated on the page. (All HCRA-registered paddlers have access. )

  2. Log in and select the desired race, division, canoe, and paddler names from the drop-down list.
    Per OHCRA race rules, all paddlers must be members of the same club. (Please have your club secretaries request transfers as needed.)

Escort Boat

For Escort Boat submission: Please fill out this Escort Boat Google Submission form and complete all fields.
If updating documents, email to: registration@ohcra.com.
Note: You will need the following information BEFORE submitting:

  1. Captain’s Boater Certificate (issued after taking the online boating course) or Boater’s License

  2. Captain HCRA Waiver

  3. Captains OHCRA Escort Boat Waiver

  4. Captains Insurance Policy (Must state dates of policy and amount of coverage)

  5. When emailing documents, indicate Club Name, Canoe Name, and Race entering (Dukes Men, Dad Center Women, etc.)

Failure to comply will result in a 10 min penalty

9:20 AM - Heat 2 start

End of race at Nanakuli Beach Park.
Lunch will be provided. Medals will be awarded as each crew is confirmed by officials.

Other Info

  • Each crew must have their own escort boat

    • Crews of 9 must-have escort boats 18 feet or longer

    • Crews of 10 should have escort boats 22 feet or longer

  • Escort boat

    • must have a mounted radio (VHF #72)

    • must have their canoe racing number displayed on the boat

    • must carry a copy of the Injury Report form

  • Canoes

    • must have their racing number displayed on the right front of the canoe

    • must have a canvas racing cover

Malama ‘aina

  • Clubs are responsible for removing tires for canoes.

  • Park only in designated stalls.

  • Fines will be assessed for failure to comply.
